Description: "In the beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth". Thus begins our mysterious journey of the beautiful world God created and where we fit into it. The Beauty and Science of Creation is an exciting way to discuss the evidence for creation from day one to day six and learn to paint while we explore the universe. Our exploration will start as we study the first chapter of Genesis and its mention of cosmology, astronomy, geology, paleontology, zoology, and other topics that are eye opening in their support of God's hand in our existence. We will build our artistic skills as we learn about nebula, global floods, exciting weather phenomenon, dinosaurs, giants, and the amazing God who made it all. Your student will have fun gaining skills in watercolor, pencil, and chalk pastel as they recreate the beauty they learn in class.Class time will be a mix of hands-on art and interactive lecture with somewhat equal times of both so this class could be taken as an art elective or science elective. Note: New students may join at semester. Tutor: Andrea Merboth has a BA degree in Occupational Therapy. Andrea has been involved in several art shows, art exhibits, and canvas painting parties amidst friends and a relaxing backdrop. She has taught art classes for many years to varied age groups, primarily to the homeschool population. In addition to enjoying painting on canvas, Andrea paints furniture, walls, fabric, room murals, and has also painted a 10’x20’ mural in a library and worked with students and locals on another large mural in Ciudad Juarez, MX. She has also painted sets for several full-length plays. Andrea and her husband have a passion to help ground young people in the Christian faith, realizing that all forms of communication, including art have the ability to either draw you towards or away from the truths of God. She believes that beauty is a reflection of God, and art classes can empower students to find creative ways to share God with the world.
