Description: This is a high school level Biology course. Unlike most public schools’ curriculum, which follows an evolutionary chain of events, this course is designed to help the student understand God’s living creation from a Biblical perspective. It will cover such areas as Botany, Zoology, Cell biology, Bio chemistry, Genetics, Evolution, Ecology, Bacteria, Protists, and Fungus. This course will be taught through lectures/discussion and labs (including dissections and microscope work). Students will be expected to keep up on reading and coursework in order to fully take advantage of lectures and labs. Note: No new students may add to this class at semester. This is a full year course. Tutor: Sarah Schultz earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of Northern Iowa, majoring in Psychology and Social Work. She worked as a youth director in a large youth program in Cedar Falls, IA, which gave her many opportunities to work with students in a variety of settings. During this time, she also had the opportunity to facilitate the junior and senior high leadership development programs for the public schools. After meeting her husband, Will, and moving to Minnesota, Sarah worked briefly for the YMCA and then as a tutor for the Robbinsdale District in the middle school alternative ed. and expulsion classrooms. Currently, Sarah homeschools her four children. While being part of the homeschool community, Sarah has coached elementary Science Olympiad teams and taught science, social studies, and literature classes at STAR Homeschool Academy and CHAT. Sarah is a life long learner who enjoys teaching and learning alongside students of any age in a variety of subjects. Cost: $238, $248 or

Students should bring a notebook and colored pens for in-class notes, index cards to use as flashcards (Note: Lab equipment and microscopes will be bought by and kept by CHAT. The lab fee goes towards the purchase of dissection specimens and other lab supplies and maintaining the microscopes. ) |
