Description: The purpose of this class is to lay a solid foundation of math concepts and skills needed for current and future math classes. Using a variety of games, puzzles, and other hands on activities students will be strengthening their mental math abilities, building logical and deductive reasoning skills, and having fun while learning! The class will have a strong emphasis on fractions, percents and decimals. We will also cover units of measurements, converting measurements, basic geometry, area, perimeter, and volume. Students will be expected to do weekly assignments. This class is not designed to be the sole math curriculum for a student. It’s purpose is “enrichment” either to another math class at CHAT or to the math program used at home. Tutor: Lisa Berscheid has two B.A.'s in Psychology and in Bible from the University of Northwestern, St. Paul. She has been homeschooling her three children for 15 years. In her free time, Lisa enjoys crocheting, gardening, cooking for her family, and catering special events. Level: Grades 7-9 |
