Description:
In this course, students will explore the fundamentals of photography,
including camera operation, composition, lighting, posing, and timing.
We’ll dive into techniques such as directing and connecting with
subjects, capturing movement, and expressing creativity through lighting
and composition. Assignments will challenge students to apply these
skills in real-life scenarios, including portrait and sports
photography. Throughout the course, students will work on a series of
photo projects designed to reinforce their learning. The instructor will
provide personalized feedback to help students refine their skills and
improve their work. Tutor: Erin Johnson is
born and raised in MN where she attended Bethel College for studio art
and then went to YWAM in Colorado. She first learned film photography in
college and enjoy the magic of the dark room. Erin started working in
the photography world in 1998 at a children’s studio and then by 2000
she was additionally working as a wedding photographer. She started her
career with film cameras and then transitioned to digital photography as
the cameras improved. She loves the challenge of a wedding and serving
people. She built a substantial business with multiple photographers,
dozens of publications and a handful of awards. Her clients have flown
her to multiple states, Mexico and Europe to document their I dos.
Throughout the decades she has taught other professional photographers
through workshops, shoot-outs and mentorships. Though her business is at
a smaller scale now she still continues to primarily photograph,
weddings, families and seniors while homeschooling her youngest
daughter. She married her husband in 2000 and has 3 delightful
daughters. She loves Jesus, traveling, hiking - especially in Arizona,
entrepreneurship (has started multiple businesses) and spending time
with her family. Her teaching style is relaxed, open-minded and
hands-on.
