Description: Salsa rueda (translated "wheel") is a called dance performed in a circle, in which there are many different partner moves, group moves, combinations, and partner switching. It is high energy and a lot of fun. The calls are all in Spanish, which adds to the fun, but you don't need to to know any Spanish to dance rueda. The students will have the option of performing a salsa rueda at the CHAT Spring Showcase Performance. This is a fun way to get a physical education credit! This is an advanced Rueda class, which will include a brief review of calls learned in the Salsa Rueda class, and then the introduction of more advanced moves, including group moves and formation changes. The Spring Showcase is Thursday, May 12, 2016. The Rueda class will perform at the CHAT Spring Showcase performance. ($5 has been added to the supply fee to help cover showcase expenses.) Note: This is a 60 minute class and the tuition will be prorated to $105 (December registration) or $115 (January registration). This takes into account that there will be no class on February 18 or April 14. Here is the Rueda performance from May, 2012: Tutor: Kim Nelson graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota with a degree in math. She and her husband have been dancing together for 10 years and are currently members of two salsa rueda performance teams that have performed across the Metro area as well as in Wisconsin, Chicago, and San Fransisco. Level: Grades 8-12 or tutor approval |
